Quick Question for the south coast people:

Would you be able to tell if this number town, or would you refer it to an area?

it's a flextel number.

I wanted a Poole number just trying to work out if I could put Poole in front of it!

That area code means Poole to me as we have relatives in Poole and dial 01202 for them. I am aware it covers larger area

01202 covers the whole Christchurch/Bournemouth/Poole conurbation.
