Now thats a proper toy!!

Just been trying to find out some up to date info about Branson's old boat Virgin Atlantic Challenger II because I'd heard she was back on the water when I came across this little beauty.

Her name is Destriero and she is currently the fastest powered boat across the Atlantic with a time of 54 hours. She is powered by 54,000 hp of gas turbine engines similar to those from an F15 Eagle and has 3 waterjets.

Not sure of a top speed but I found the image while looking at Devenport on Google Earth.

Is that definately her Phil?
When I did my PB2 course our instructor told us that was a drugs yacht seized some time ago. Mins you if the Navy cuts as reported go ahead she'll make a nice Frigate!

Ah, perhaps the inner yacht is the one referred to as the drug runnerhttp://www.merseyshipping.co.uk/phot...6/L1190421.JPG

I picked up the info from a site about the Hayles Trophy listing her to be in Devonport.

Seems a shame that she's just sitting there like that but that seems to be the case with most record breaking boats. I remember seeing Cable and Wireless At Shamrock Quays for ages.

I guess Destriero will probably never move again because no-one could afford the fuel bill!!!

You're right though, it certainly would make a fine frigate!!

No need to worry about a PB 2 course Mollers, with that dodgy Opti you might want to have a go at this instead http://www.imperialboatclub.co.uk/courses.htm
