My old Phones

Have been clearing out a cupboard today and found all my old mobiles.
Thought you'd like to see the differance in size etc.

First one has a SIM card in it dated 1985

Yes the larger ones weigh a lot.
The heaviest and earliest one weighs 329grams.
The lightest, but not the latest, is 83grams.
How did I ever carry some of them around in my suit jacket pocket

I also have a full 'fitted' hands free kit for most of them.

The ones in the centre of the first image are my current phones for home and work, and yes I know my old Motorola is several years old, but its interesting to see how they've got bigger again.

That's scary I still have a Nokia 1611 sitting on my desk!!!

one thing I have noticed is that every new phone I have seems to be slower than the one i had before........

The best phone I have ever had was the nokia nk702 - aka the 6110 - it was brilliant - I had the Axel F ringtone - long before crazy frog. the phone was almost indestructable - dropped it from 12' onto concrete and not a mark!!!

I think Mrs Nasher had a 6110, but she gave all her old phones to charity a while back, wouldn't let her give mine away, the early ones might be worth something one day.

Yeah I've got a drawer ful,l I dont know what to do with aswell, you couldnt keep the early ones tho, as you had to trade them in .. you know the handbag ones with a handset attached on a cradle ?.. Matter of fact I still use my original 0860, or now 07860 number from 1990 to this day

Some of those might be collectible. You should look on eBay and see what they are going for.

I sold a StarTac for £40.00 recently.

Interesting site: Oldmobil

I don't think that would be the date maked on your old SIM card Nasher, as far as I remember I don't think SIM cards came about until the early 90's

Andy

I thought that, and I'm sure the phone itself is from @1991.
However on the back of the card it has dates for the retailer to circle.
85.86.87.88.89 and mine has 89 circled.

It is of course a full credit card size SIM card not the smaller one you get now. I'll try to get an image of it later.
