London Drivers - LEZ - Low Emission Zone

Ok, some may know about this, others propably haven't a clue.

As per Next Feb 2008, there is going to be a Low Emission Zone inside the M25. The website here explains all.

To summerise effects Lorries and will affect Vans that basically pollute the environment with their DIESEL emissions, Petrol is not effected. Check your vehicle and area on the site.

This is not a cheap option by the way, £200 fees for Lorries and £100 for vans.

THIS DOESN'T AFFECT CARS!!!

Not a pimp or advert but more a useful bit of information for those people that visit the Big City in their polluting motors.

Red Ken's going to suddenly realise that half the trucks IN London don't fall into the exempt class, and half of the ones bringing goods in that London needs to survive don't either.
It's one of the necessities of having a large population density-you need vehicles to service it. While fuel prices are being shafted up through the sky by Browns government, hauliers can't afford to buy new vehicles as often as Red Ken says they need to-as he's just killed the market for 2nd hand trucks.
Every independant/small company I know has said they're simply going to stop going into London. It's a low earner anyway when they are paid per mile. Even the big players like Exel and Wincanton aren't fully euro IV compliant.
You don't like the air quality, don't live there...

It'll only hit home when he can't get his caviar...

All large UK cities transport systems are at breaking point. No major invesment for decades and yet they are expected to expand to fuel the nations wealth. Ands now they want to bite the hand that feeds them in London. How are they going to get all those goods in cheaply ? Looks like Red Ken is expecting Londoners to pay even more for everything. Although businesses will have to fund the initial payment its only right cost should be passed on to consumers and this is what will happen. Result London gets to the top of the Worlds most expensive cities. Can't see why though when you look at the beauty of Paris, Rome, Berlin or many American cities.
Surely the pips will soon start to squeak. (Denis Healey) Labours last cock up in Government.

Yes, apparently the old 12 seat 110's were being bought in and around London and were exempt from the congestion charge, Ken couldn't have that so he's specifically included them this time!

Can't believe that, so how long will it be before he hits all vehicles inside the M25?

Boris will be mayor before that happens. Then, hopefully, he'll start restoring some common sense to proceedings.
