Lancaster, Hurricane and Spitfire - they made a fantastic sound and when they did their final pass in formation there was a standing ovation! Despite not so good publicity there was a good turnout, and a special thanks to Mike from the Ferry Inn who sponsored the whole thing for the start of Regatta week!

A few years ago I was driving close to my local small airport. Heard this very familiar sound. Looked up and saw two P51 Mustangs and a Spitfire coming into land.
There is no mistaking the sound of a V12 RR Merlin. The engine that shortened WW11 by a whole bunch and the developement costs were paid for by Lady Astor who was the first lady member of Parliament. So there !!!!!
Sorry I missed the show.

I've done the same thing here at work (a community college on approach to Hayward Airport), except the aircraft were a B-17, a B-24, a P-51 and I think a P-47. Must have been around the time of Fleet Week in San Francisco, as I recall. May have been some other airshow (not really local, but not too far away.) Made for a nice break to the day, as they did half a dozen circuits around the pattern, all in formation.
