< Edit: This is a collection of trimmings from the Should there be an alcohol limit for leisure boaters? thread which were spirited away on the grounds that they add more heat than light.

A couple of people feel hard done by, so I've reinstated them here for posterity. Enjoy! JK >

However, my comments are aimed at anyone who has that approach to drink-driving, of any vehicle, regardless of what you/they choose to label it as.

I appear to be living in a country full of drunken chavs with no common sense, so regulation is probably the only way.
Ask David Manning how well behaved the average drinker is when he's scraping them up off the pavement in Wolve.
It seems you are becoming too emotional to write a sensible or meaningful post just at the moment

Are you leaving your tea bags in for too long?

In my view the law should say "No Alcohol" in your blood that way there is no confusion. I know a few people who can drink a bath full of the stuff and get away with a breath test.

As JF says if it was your child that they scraped off the road you'd soon change your mind.

I seem to be living my life backwards. When I was a student I was all for the Police - Law and Order - the establishment - capital punishment etc etc. All the other students were the opposite.

As I get older I find I am turning into a right militant. Then again maybe it's Tony Blair's government that has done it!!!

Laws don't seem to stop irresponsible people from drink driving or taking drugs though.

There's a pretty good chance these idiots would have behaved the same sober!!!

I thought a white paper was being discussed at the moment. In it is masses of regulation.
All done in the name of the environment but I bet its going to cost Joe Public.

When that kicks in might be time to buy a stealth boat that can be launched off the beach.

Or maybe I could register my boat in China !
