Well I posted this thread over three years ago, and actually went up Wootton Creek for the first time on Sunday, and it certainly won't be my last. I didn't get very far up the Creek as the tide wasn't right to explore very far up

But I did stop off at the Sailing clubs pontoon right next to the Ferry, and went into the club for a drink. The club was nice, and no one asked me for any pontoon payment, and no I didn't need to sign in.

Next time I'll definelty go up to the pub at the end of the Creek.

Just remember the tides when going to the Sloop, they fall quite quickly leaving you high and dry.

Went to the Bargemans Rest in Newport IOW yesterday, right at the end of the river, and was able to moor up outside... Luckily it was springs... but I still didn't spend too much time in there just in case...

When I got home I looked at the chart, and I reckon its fine to go right up to Newport +/- 2hrs either side of springs... anyone else had much experience going to Newport, as it looks like it drys out...

You will find the water on spring tides holds for aprox 3 hours in Wootton creek
when it starts to move - move with it
Newport can also hold well if the wind is in the right direction

I keep on going past the Rising Sun at Warsash, in fact I was there Sat night after going up Ashlett Creek, and I have never stopped off there by boat.. can you just tie up on the pontoon next to the slipway? or are you supposed to tie up on the next pontoon down, where the Harbour Masters rib is?

I see there are some signs saying tht you have to go and pay at the Harbour Masters office for mooring your boat there... does anyone know much it is to stop say for an hour and a 1/4? or in fact for any time at all?

finally got to go to the Sloop last weekend at Wootton Creek, nice pub with a carvarly.. you can tie up to the wall, and step up on the ladder to go over the wall... I arrived a bit late, so didn't stay long, as the tide was turning...
A nice quiet creek...and easy to find..

Tied up for the first time at Shalfleet Quay on Wednesday, up Newtown Creek, one of the two ladders is currently broken, and taped up. Got off and walked to the New Inn 10 mins walk away...for a meal and a drink... you've got around 3 hrs at Springs..
