For all those who are interested in going on this BIBOA cruise can you make sure you have sent me your checks as time is running out and the hotel is almost full. Over 50 people are now going.

see you have changed your "Profile" Can you put me and Steve down just for the meal at the RDYC only?
If you are nice to me I might even sign you in seeing as I am proberbly the only member of the club coming. Hey, perhaps I could come as an RDYC observer and not have to pay? Or how about Steve, Jan and myself who are the founder members of the New Age Viking Club that started this event. The permutaions go on and on!

We have 16 boats at the moment going with a total of 74 people so it should be a good event. the weather seems to be good for the weekend.

Sorry to be pessimistic, but there are two frontal systems approaching from the North Atlantic, with rain and high winds

Big high pressure behind them, though

If it all moves faster than the met office are predicting, then it'll be great!

For those who are coming to weymouth at the weekend we will be using VHF CH 77 for the cruise. I will be on the water from 10.30 am so call me up if you need anything.

Hi Alan

We are leaving Yarmouth at about 1.30 is. We will start the smaller boats of first and we will run about 40 mins behind them to sweep the course. We should be in Weymouth by 3.30ish. We can either meet at the marina or in the hotel lobby. Or if you are feeling thirsty then meet in the Irish bar over the road from the hotel. Its on the sea front side.

I will have my phone so if you give me a call when you arrive i will let you know where we are. Mobile is 07900883851. See you there.

We're hanging on to this rock like crazy, do not want to get blown into the sea!! F7/8, massive seas...I seriously hope no-one was foolhardy enough to attempt the trip from Weymouth to the Solent!!

Cath and I are just back from our PB II course we did at Calshot in Southampton.

the weather there was foul with F8/F9 most of the afternoon. The max speed logged at the center was Force 10!!!

Scubakid and I wend down to Yarmouth on Saturday and saw off some of the motley crew on the way to Weymouth. We followed them down to near the neadles where it was getting quite choppy.

As we returned to S'pton we heard on the radio some of the smaller boats were pulling into Poole.

Didn't hear or see anybody today, but "Awsome" launched at Calshot and the car/trailer had gone by 16:00 today, so they either made it back or came and picked up the trailer!

I'll sort some pics out for tomorrow!

Here's a brief summary:

16-ish boats depart Weymouth Saturday, and a couple less arrive Weymouth Sat. pm. I don't know the details in full, but some did turn back. Needles channel very bumpy and Christchurch bay difficult. Smoothed out a bit, and then going round StAlbans Head was grrrreat!

Then into the shelter of Potland Bill, smooth 40kt ride to Weymouth breakwater.

Sat. night, good meal, good speeches from Roger Lyas (very nice man) and Alan Priddy (very nice man as well) - Roger advises small RIBs to leave early as forecast for deteriorating weather.

Sun morning - weather briefing at breakfast, but small RIBs have already left. Some decide to go by train/taxi/car. Gary Tickner goes out in "White Waters" and comes back. Micklewrights go out in "Awesome" and come back (Andy make some sort of gesture like he's trying to describe a rollercoaster). Barbour family in"Stravaiger" go out and come back. Some of us hitch a ride out in "Hot Lemon IV" and, err, come back! "Kermit" and "Selva" get as far as Lulworth and come back.

"Flyte" makes it to Poole, "Bumblebee" (4.7m

) gets all the way home (Christchurch), and "My Pleasure II" gets all the way back to Lymington - crew very complimentary about Gordon's skippering.

In the meantime, we've alerted the Coastguard about the two small RIBs being out, and the Coastguard immediately send a helicopter up. We make contact with Daniel on Bumblebee as soon as he's ashore and the Coastguard stands the helicopter down. We all breath sigh of relief. Much respect to Daniel and Dylan on Bumblebee (and Flyte's crew).

Daniel (DJL) - looking forward to your account, unless you're saving it as an exclusive for RIB International?
