Solent - Weekend 3/4 March 2007

NautiBouy and Seahawk IV are meeting up in the Solent. Bogi and Icelandic friends on board. Lunch in Yarmouth
The weather not the best cos F6 showing and Seahawk IV has to encounter Selsy Bill about 10/11 AM

Sorry Ben, perhaps we can meet up

leaving LAmpton at 9:30 this morning with Bogi and heading for Port Solent to meet up with NautiBouy and Icelandic party then a blast to the Needles and to Yarmouth for lunch. Staying overnight in Cowes and returning to LAmpton Sunday early afternoon.

I guess it may be rough but ideal demo conditions for the Icelandic guys

well that is the plan

well it was rough and met up as planned with NautiBouy on Saturday. Lunch in Cowes and a blast to the Needles

The trip back to LAmpton was wicket. We took the Looch Channel and experienced 3 mtr waves. Only two small suffing and one BIG one . Once on the East side of Selsy Bill the wave conditions improved only the wind speed stayed the same. We maintained a speed of 19 knots and arrived into LA at 11:15. So the jouney from Cowes took us 2 hours and 15 minutes. Wiesia missed our entrance into LA by 15 minutes so no pictures of Seahawk IV surfing into LAmpton.

Here are a few shots of the entrance taken later .

Richard , Paul it was nice to meet up with you and thanks for your support.

Bogi I hope your Viking friends enjoyed themselves and you all got home safe.

I am sure Olly will remember this weekend for a long time

Paul Did you also take them for a spin on a proper RIB

Not only bravery is the issue. If you have the right hull and power to match it then you have the confidence you can do it. We had agreed between the three of us that that if the conditions got worse we would return. When you get to the point of no return and you just have keep going. I expected Selsy Bill to be bad and it for sure was but that was only for 4 Nm.

They were raving about Parker to be fair ! Funnily enough they said it (reassuringly) reminded them of their Humber, a feeling I'd had on leaving Calais crewing on the newly-built 'Nautibuoy'.
Considering the conditions it seemed like ye all had a top day out

Kathleen

Bogi, you are most welcome . Look forward to your next visit. I can understand Oli cos some 10 years ago I got hooked by the one and only "DOG" Phillips.

It was such a shame having him sat there....... especially when I dipped the nose to send a spray over the front. naturally it took 3 times to perfect it completely

I am sure Bergur have loads of them, those are the ones I have got, he is still putting them up, however we may have to wait a week as the group are going skiing to Austria in the morning.
