Solent - Saturday 12 April 2008

After months of not being able to take the boat out due to a brolen arm, I think I may well risk it tomorrow for a hopefully gentle run.

anyone out and about?

will probably be on the water at about 12ish out of Southampton

Neil hi,

We are thinking of heading over to the lighthouse (?) East Cowes Marina for lunch, don't think we will be able to launch at Haslar until about 1ish though.

current plan looks like we might be out in the solent by about 12, and over to the island to do a spot of fishing for an hour or two, then lunch in Cowes or lightship maybe. possibly a spot more fishing or playing - will see what the weather is like.

Tim, will of course wave if see you.

Roy, enjoy Sunday. Looks like it might be the better day, unfortunately I have an 1830 flight to catch, so Sunday's not so easy.

Pete, probbaly won't lunch til about 2 depending on conditions, so may see you about in Cowes if we head that way.

Anyone know any good fishing spots? thought of going over to Needles, but it's a southwesterly forecast, so decided might be better to stay in the lee of the island. but what do I know???

There used to be a deep hole off the north east corner of the RNLI jetty on Calshot Spit. There is even a flying boat that sunk at her mooring at the bottom. It would also be protected in a S Westerly. Its within casting range of the shore so don't go to far out.

RIBase
Apparently the bream are in, so as long as the tide is running then anywhere you see a lot of pot buoys should be worth a go.

How did you break your arm???

Did we pass you? was keeping a lookout and did not see you - sorry

agreed - it was choppy out. did not go too far in the end, down to calshot, over to Cowes for lunch, east a bit then back to calshot and back up to drivers, with some fishing stops in between, not that we got a single bite mind...
