Slight problem there. If we leave Honfleur 2hrs after low water, we won't be leaving until lunchtime Frenchy time. Low water is 0845 UT, departure time therfore 1045 UT, which is 1245 CET. 8 hrs of travel puts us in Rouen at 2045 CET. Perhaps dinner and fuel in Rouen then!

I read somewhere a plan to leave before LW Honf.? Two hours after would certainly put a limit on the day's range.

1 step ahead of you Although there is one or two stopping places, the info I have suggests there's pretty much no other facilities. I've added a new (2008) marina at Rouen to the google map that's supposed to be good and is well out of the river current.

Shouldn't take 8 hours by my calcs:

95km @ 28km/hr = 3.4hrs
18km @ 18km/hr = 1.0hrs
total 113km - 4.4hrs

Speed

Looks like he's cruising at about 30kts and the cars going over the bridge doing about 200mph.

I think the cars may be slower in your forthcoming video

I like the bit where they pose for pics, very romantic, I can just see you and Martin cuddling up under the Eiffel Tower for a rib.net photo opportunity.

Looked like the girl was hanging over the side a couple of times, maybe a spot of motion sickness

Talking of being sick, I've heard comments about a lot of people being ill on the waterways. It appears that the lock slime that you invariably get covered in could be full of bacteria, it's recommended to wear disposable gloves, wash warps in bleach etc

Just been having a look at all the waypoints/poi's so far on Mapsource and City Navigator.

You might like to double check your Port St Louis lat/long. Seems to be a little of course, as in some way north and in the middle of La Manche

Roadside petrol stations near likely mooring places include:

Rouen
Esso - N49.26.58 E1.02.57
Shell - N49.26.06 E1.06.14

Conflans
BP - N48.59.43 E2.4.50

Les Andelys
Champion - N49.14.7 E1.24.35

I'll have them all on my handheld anyway, including hotels and B&B's.

The worst thing in French waterways are little critters called Coypu. Apparently they're everywhere nowadays having been introduced at the beginning of the last century to boost the EU fur trade. The are responsible for a lot of bank erosion and plant damage and also carry toxoplasmosis. My contact in Avranches almost died a few years back after contracting the disease whilst kayaking the the river Sée. More info here: http://www.lost-in-france.com/wildli...ance/195-coypu

Still trying to coax my beloved into allowing me to come along...

Possibly a mistake in copying the lat/long?

I don't know what toxoplasmosis is but I sure as hell don't like the sound of it.

Hopefully there's hoses en-route, I'll take some cleaning stuff with me I think

Straight up, Ian was in Avranches ICU for some time; he got infected after river water got into an open wound. The thing is, these coypu are dead cute and will swim up to your boat as you're going along. You're advised not to cuddle or kiss them but instead to hit them over the head with an oar until they stop moving.

I'm sure the pair of liquidisers hung off the back of Matt's boat will make a nice soup out of them

I think I can remember to take something that deals with them more efficiently.

Without doubt. I will correct it when I add the latest points.

Coming from a well known rat lover, that's a touch harsh.

Toxoplasmosis is most commonly encountered in domestic cats. Having as I do, a comfortable surplus of said felines, I can reassure you that it's not quite Ebola we're dealing with here. However, Laydees who are planning to get knocked up are advised to stay clear, as there are potentially serious complications. Erin take note .

Paris is meant to be romantic.

Martini will probably get all doe-eyed when he sees the Eifell Tower, so long as no one tells him it is not a lighthouse.
