Redbay/Ballycastle/Rathlin trip

Anybody fancy a trip to Redbay via Rathlin and Ballycastle?
We would be leaving from Campbeltown but that leg wouldn't be compulsory.....
I quite fancy contacting the factory for a tour and maybe a demo as a potential customer, possibly when I can eventually afford one whenever that would be.........

Well hello Sailor!

Looks like you fell in with bad company on the IOM

I do hope you're not just being a tease, 'cos I'll have to think seriously about running over to Campbeltown and collecting you - I get an extra bonus for delivering "Prospects" by sea (apparently the salt air loosens the wallet)

Any suggested dates for this one? (Redbay closed from mid-day Saturday and Sundays)

If I'm going over first, it would be a "revolving door" cruise with ribs joining whichever leg suits them

Depending on dates count me in on this one BruceB!

I wonder which company on the IOM Willk was referring to?

I think he was talking about himself........
Dates are a bit "in the air" for the moment until I figure out when I can go myself but certainly before the end of august. There are a few dates either out for work or previously arranged trips and I need to shove a pin in an empty slot somewhere with a suitable tide and start making calls.........

Been slightly busy since the weekend sorting vehicles out but will look into this at the weekend, willk has even come up with itineray already as he is on commission I think.
Staying overnight on Rathlin does sound quite nice but I think he has ulterior motives revolving around drink!

Aye, there is.

Bruce is awa' chasing deep sixed scrap metal until August. Redbay have kindly offered a tour of the Works (Monday - Saturday 1.00pm) seeing as how Bruce is buyin'

I think we confer again in three weeks. Should be fun...

"The Redbay Fun Run"

Meh suggestion (disclosed to The Bruce earlier) was to RV in Campbeltoon on a Friday PM and make a run to Rathlin for food, a few scoops and B&B, running in to Redbay for 1030hrs Saturday, have a dekko, lunch and for them's what's goin', depart for Scroatland.

Obviously, the plan is flexible...

Are you talking about coming over to Campbeltown to start?
As I said I am busy diving up and hillwalking for the deep trip at the end of July but August looks good, any dates for preference so I can book a holiday with the missus?
What about B&Bs in Rathlin, anybody have good ones or just start calling?

I'll shimmy over to Campbeltoon to meet you. There is one weekend in August when Redbay plan to raid, sry, I mean visit the Outer Hebrides, I'll have to confirm/exclude that date (think it's late August). Tom might have forgotten, but in a rash moment, he promised me a seat on a Heavy for that one...

...and I intend to go

I'll suss out Rathlin in the meantime. There's B&B and I've spotted a bit of Wild Camping previously. The harbour has a feckin' class pontoon, very sheltered, jus' a wee stagger from the pub...

I may be in trouble for Aug, just found my transom is starting to delaminate. Have contacted Humber to see what they suggest as the boat is only two years old.
Hopefully they will sort it out, they did it fast enough on the last RIB when I had a manufacturing defect.

Your trouble all started when you told that poor wee Humber that she had to go to Redbay to pick her successor. It's Displacement Delamination wot she's got. e.g. If you told yer missus that she was getting traded in, SHE'D take strips off you (i think ) but the rib has to be content with shedding strips off itself...

Hope you get sorted

I have tried wife swapping but they keep giving her back after one night.....
The Humber may eventually be swopped for a Redbay but I reckon I have one more Humber between that and the present one, unless I get a very large payrise very soon.
The plan was to get a 6-6.5m Ocean Pro in two years time, then the Redbay.
The crack is a bit of a surprise, the boats only done 110 hours and isn't exactly overpowered. I am waiting to see what come back from Humber regarding fixing it but it means for at least a time I ain't got a boat!

That's a bummer BruceB.

Will they take that long to fix it?

Willk - your plan sounds good to me. Boat and crew willing.
First two weeks of August I'm game for it.
The others could be done at a push.
Never been to Campbell town yet. (You got a passage plan for that Willk?)

Its not been a good week, boat broke and I have just been told the Malin dive trip at the end of the month is off.
The good news is that Humber will fix the transom as soon as I can get it down there, hopefully next week.
