Neil,

Where do you want to launch from ?

Was Warsash a good place for you to launch from or is Poole better ?

If its a perfectly calm day I wouldn't mind doing the trip from Warsash but might need help launching if I'm on my own. If its a bit rough or worse then I'll be launching from Poole with Rick.

Keep us posted. General itinery is to be a blast to somewhere with lunch in a local Tavern followed by a trip back. Probably need Nav Lights at this time of year.

Nick.

I'd like to think I'll be there for this one, will be doing it in my rib rather then the zapcat for this distance though

Not sure if Gray is available, but if he is, im sure he'll be along with me !

Hi Nick,

Was thinking of launching from Poole, but need to try and find some accomodation in the area first.

Went to see Baiter slip that weekend I had to abort. It's shallow like Warsash. Don't normally mind Warsash, but thought I'd get away with not using the rope last time, hence the scraping, the recovery went like a dream!

I'd prefer not to do a Warsash-Poole and return run as I'd like some time to explore the Poole area a bit, and since Warsash-Poole would be weather dependant, finding accomodation last minute might be tricky if that run is not possible.

will keep you posted.

Neil

Biggles has sugested that instead of the original plan of having a BBQ on the beach we could moor and have lunch in a pub.
I have had a ring around today and two possible destinations are:

Lulworth Cove 20.7nm from Baiter slip, Poole. The only pub is approx 0.5m from the beach they will be open lunch time new years day and be serving food, children are allowed, but they do expect to be busy.

Weymouth Harbour 28.3nm from Baiter slip, Poole. Lots of pubs nearby, I have spoken to 2 who will be open lunch time New Years day, serving food and allow children.

What would people prefer BBQ or Pub lunch?
Lulworth or Weymouth?

Richard

As stated I would prefer a pub lunch. Saves carrying the food and preparing it.

And I would prefer Weymouth if thats like Poole where you can tie up on the Harbour wall and just walk to the pub.

Here is the latest forcast for new years day.
It has changed a lot in the last 12 hours. Looking a bit iffy at the moment but plenty of time for it to change.

Looks like I spoke too soon.
My cousin has gone and cut down 7 conifer trees and blocked the RIB in. They won't be cleared until after New Year as all the staff are away and it'll be two days work for 2 peeps to clear it.

I don't think he thought it would be going anywhere at this time of year somehow

I'm still up for this depending on the weather obviously. Just filled the boat up with fuel so she's ready to go. I,m working till Sunday so will only be on the Net a little.

Also would appreciate someone posting a route to Baiter from the M27 etc.

Regards Nick R.
