Lundy Island overnighter

Planning a trip to Lundy in October looking at the 29th and 30th (Friday/Saturday)

Planning to stay on the Island either in tents if weather looks OK or B&B, other options may include staying at a hotal in Appledore.

Usual Suspects are already in (Looney tunes & The Govenor) so if anyone else fancies joining let me know.

TTFN.

Did not make Lundy as a manageable F5-6 turned into 8 gusting 9 as we came round Mort Point. Mountainous and chaotic are the only words that spring to mind. Followed by a 3 hour hike up the channel to Portishead because we could not face a night in Ilfracombe and no other harbours were going to be possible due to low tide.

Good character building stuff as my passenger (who had his first rib experience) said after an 8 hour day of the Bristol Channel at its gnarly best.

Now I know how my socks feel when they are in the washing machine. Hot bath here I come !

Sadly did not get as much footageas we could have due to not having the camera mounted on the A-frame yet.

But Clint has done a great job of pasting something together:

it was an awesome trip even tho we didnt make it. the waves further out were so large and steeped that by the time you had managed to climb them and the force 8/9 hit you on the bow, the boat was literally going backwards so no forward progress was being made at all. awesome fun.
The wind squalls/gusts were so powerfull at one point coming off a wave the rib turned round 30 degrees much to the amusement of both of us!! and definatly would do it again, more ballast in the anchor locker Maximus!!
