Dartmouth > Isles of Scilly 2012

I know how these long distance trip planning posts tend to end up however as I sit here with freezing wind and sleet whipping up around the new gaff I am dreaming of some nice trips next year...

So..... any takers for a ribnet trip over to the Scilly Isles next year? I've been meaning to go for the last 3 years so am determined to do the run next year.

Thinking of May / June time...

So far Maximus and Avocet are on board and hopefully team cornwall might be up for it as well !

Hi Whisper, we are looking at about 120nm each way, personally I would want to be in at least a 6 meter. All comes down to the conditions on the day of course but I have yet to go on a long trip where it remained calm the whole way there and back !.

I am sure you could jump on board a larger boat as crew if you wanted to

If the timing is right I'd be up for this - it's certainly on my to do list!

If you wish I can do a very favourable rate on launch/recovery and trailer/car storage 4 minutes from the slipway and the Council will have built the new 8mtr wide slipway by then!

If I can work around the dates I would be up for this but would more likely start in Salcombe, it is a trip I would love to do.

PS I would be bringing something bigger than the SR4

Hmm

240 miles

That will mean getting fuel in the Scillies. Expensive and awkward when I went there 5 years ago.

Think about going from Falmouth - it's only 60 miles and you can do it on a tankful?

Not a problem I can carry enough fuel for both ways.

Anyone know if the recent Initiative to lower fuel duty for outlieing, and Island communitys gets passed on to Visitors? It would certainly be another incentive to visit (And there by bring more. money to the local economy)...as this thread would indicate. Haveing spent plenty of Holidays in Cornwall though,... I may have an Inckling.

IIRC last time I went there petrol was about 80p a litre on the mainland and 118p in St Marys.

Even with a reduction in duty it will be expensive.

Wave Jumping

I've got a permit from the wife and if I get tired I can always stick the 4.7 on the deck of Nos's new Ballistic.... Bring on the noise
