Will be out Fri ( with ' guests' ) & sat & maybe Sunday . Always a good free show , but I will be aimingg to anchor away from the masses - carnage last year where I was !

Really hoping the Vulcan can display - I remember as kid watching them at shows climbing out at full power - awesome to feel the ground shake - makes the eurofigher sound like a wisper !

Steve - will you be able to get hold of timings around the various timings etc ?

Pete

Hi Pete

I have some very provisional times now, but will hold back until I get better certaincy, and post then.

Will only be out on the Sunday, due to Hols with the boat in Cornwall and U2 concert on the Saturday night.

Will anchour amongst the masses again this year, but will have a sharpened boat hope to fend off all the plonkers that could not even master the basics of boat control!
Steve

Perhaps closer to the event you might suggest a decent place to moor away from the masses? I'm tempted to go, but don't want carnage....

Neil - generally just off the main display box works. Alot & I really mean alot of boats try & get as close as possible , but I reckon you see just as much from further out. None of the bay is hugely deep ( 20-30ft max generally) so you can just anchor anywhere.

Do you know what day you are planning - welcome to raft up & share a beer or two.

Pete

It's my birthday on the 23rd, if the weather looks good, that would probably be the day... definitely up for a cold one!

Hi Richard
Depends how far you want to travel by RIB. I would stay West of Bournemouth as it will be very busy, so would recommend Baiter Park in Poole. £9 for the day, but it is a long shallow slip, so you will have to detach trailer from car at waters edge and push into water by hand to launch & recover. Be there early as it gets very busy with jet skis. Stick to 10kt speed limit in harbour.
The only other place I would recommend is the slip in Weymouth. A very good steep concrete slip. Only space for parking trailer, you have to put car into another car park, which can be a pain. Cost could end up as high as £15. Depending on sea state, take about 1-2 hours to get to Bournemouth.

The Vulcan is flying!! Saturday only

Will be there myself on Sunday, hope to see you
Steve

The best slip facilities wise would have to be Cobbs Quay.

I agree, though I think the cost is very high for the day. Last year a friend was charged £40!

We'll be out too on the sunday, I'm back from holiday early to avoid missing this.

If you have a sizeable rib say over 6.5m on a twin axle trailer I would consider biting the bullet and launching at Cobbs Quay, Baiter is pretty shallow even at high tide so for luanch and recover the tides need to be really on your side. If they have space at Cobbs they will often allow you to berth overnight on the pontoons if you ask nicely and pay no more (it will depend on availability though and I think its only £12 if you end up having to pay). This could be a perk if you fancy a two day boating trip to Poole.

If your coming up from Newton Abbot way then your best bet would be Cobbs Quay Marina as it would be easy to get to from your direction. It has a large car park and the slipway is good, allthough hope your launching skills are good, there is a RYA Powerboat Training school opposite the slipway so the students maybe watching you for tips on launching.

Cycled along the this moring & its full of 'stuff' - stalls food etc . The Mway & A roads across the New Forest were all pretty much full/ jammed earlier & there are already boats arriving to see the first day of this tomorrow.

If it stays nice ( which its not forecast to! ) I can see the coastguard being very busy !
