Jono
Would I be right in thinking you have chosen that particular route for aesthetic reasons?

If so, fine.

I very much doubt it as he probably thinks aesthetic is what you get when you have an operation.

Could be a bit nippy at the beginning of March in an untested rib. Why not just motor it to Southampton and borrow a trailer ?

Plan B is to reach the South coast but it'll probably be Weymouth as there's some very strange people in the Southampton area.

I'll happily crew with you, but Billy should be ready by then and if he is we could accompany you.

Nippy - you southern wuss - ive been on the water at least 4 days a week all winter - even with snow on the beach

Drive it to southampton - that would be boring

It will be well tested by Jason.

Would have been fun for you tomorrow, Jono - Lands End to St Davids Head....

24 hour forecast:
Wind: south or southwest 4 or 5 for a while. soon south 6 to gale 8, later southwest gale 8 or severe gale 9, and perhaps local storm 10 Saturday afternoon.

Typically the one day I get off work and it's likely to be bringing a good 8 metre swell at the Heads - will make a decision first thing.

Jono your quite correct. Remember we use flasks for storing Irish whiskey not soup down here.

Certainly it would be a great adventure so please do take a camera but I don't think its a trip for the faint hearted at this time of year.

Presumably this trip will qualify you for the black tie club (setting sail after mid night, into a F7, wearing black tie).

Pete

Force 9 in The little river of southampton, my local boating lake is less shelted than Southampton Water.

Me and the man Manning were out in this force 9 in my Zap Cat - to put a word to it "WET".

Got PM's will have more details shortly.
