Keen as mustard

Yeah, I too am keen to go over if you don't mind me tagging along! I wanted to go this year but it never materialised. Bottled out I think as much as anything!!! if there were a load going over it'd be more reassuring! LETS GO!

I also had this in mind when I 'upgraded' this year. If I can influence the choice of dates then May 19/20 or June 16/17 is ideal for me but will endeavour to fit in with other plans (and the weather!).

We enjoyed the crossing last year but if it had been in Zebedee (5m) fair seas and good weather would have been essentials really.

Our group camped in Alderney. Top fun! Terrible weather and a lighthouse that issued fog warnings throughout the night yards from our ears!!!

Loved the Channel Islands and look forward to running across in company again next year

Andy,

I'm edging for June 9/10 or 16/17. I can't make the May dates unless I take leave. And I don't want to do that at this stage.

Shall we aim for June 16/17 then ?

June 16th/17th is fine for me. Lets go for that date. Hopefully others will want to do that date too.

Alderney trip 16 - 17th June 2007.

Tom,

Yup, The 16th - 17th of June it is then.

As a basic plan meet off Cowes at 0900 hrs on the 16th. Make best speed to Guernsey. Land for lunch. In the afternoon go to Alderney for the over night stop.

Sunday depart about 1100 hrs and head to France and do a quick run along the coast (Just to say we done it, and show the flag). Then head for home.

Not too sure if this is too ambitious in the timeframe allotted but as with all things Nautical we'll have to be flexible, and because its quite a big jaunt we might have to make an effort to complete it.

Everybody welcome.

No.

Just go straight to Alderney. Guernsey is another 20NM further. I reckon it will take 3 hours min to get to Alderney and I reckon we will be ready for a pint by then.

I'm easy with the plans. You lot know a lot more about this ribbing lark than me. I've not even got the rib yet but i do like a challenge so i'm not fussed whether we go straight to Guernsey or Alderney or whatever. I'll probably take the 15th off and go down then for a day. Is it worth putting up a list to see who is going to come for them dates? Just to get an idea of numbers?

It is worth heading for Alderney and possibly camping there if it's nice weather!!! Some peeps prefer the greater facilities/amenities of Guernsey.

Others (Whiteshoes ) believe in blasting straight for the mainland!!!
It felt brilliant to get across there under our own steam the first time we did it!

James,

yes its an open invite. We are only at the very early planning stages now. The only firm thing is the dates 16/17 June 2007.

plans could be considered now for such things as Insurance. I'm going to speak to my RYA contact whilst I'm on a course in November with regards requirement for an ICC. Hopefully all this will pad out in the run up to the new year, then we can start to make firm plans in January.

Might take a few meets over beer for some of us to sort it out.

Nick.

Re alderney Trip 2007

Room for one more please!
I have been very keen for some time to hop across to Alderney.
I would prefer to go with other ribs. So if you dont mind, please add me to your List.
I would be starting out from Chichester Habour, anyone else from there?
regards
pete

Borat,

Your Cultural leanings would be a bonus. Please make benefit for many RIBSTERs.

Its possible that I might start from Chichester harbour. Whats your launch point ?

Hi biggles,
Itchenor habour is best for me to launch, parking and using the slipway are cheap compared to other places.
A short habour cruise and your out in the solent heading to the isle of wight!
Regards
pete

Could I register my interest? This one had passed me by until AndyB007 mentioned it on Sunday. I'm fairly flexible, assuming it is a weekend or a long weekend, I will fit in with whatever is planned.
