Not really as have only ever been there on a yacht.

There are plenty of hotels & GHs:

I fancy a splurge at the Braye Beach Hotel.

Andy,

Looks like at least three of us are up for this. Shall we set a date and see if any one else wants to join us. Shall we look at a date in June ?
I would prefer May because I can then look at doing a couple of more trips over the summer once I've got some experience under my belt and identified a few places to stay. Unfortunately during the May Bank Holiday RIBNET do the Littlehampton run. I also work all the Bank Holidays I can as they pay well.
Are we going to settle for an overnighter for the first trip. Leave the UK about 1000 hrs on the first day. Get to Alderney, tie up then eat, drink and talk boats. On the second day start off about 0900 hrs, pop over to Guernsey, for lunch then motor back to the UK.
I think we will also need to seriously consider making plans for a backup/foul weather plan, ie put the following weekend aside, just in case.

Andy,

If you can afford the Braye Beach Hotel you can afford to pay for the whole of RIBNET to eat lunch next time we meet.

I don't have a problem with doing it at anytime of the year. Besides avoiding the wind I have the kit, boat and willingness to go at almost anytime of the year.

Because I work shifts time off can need a little working out and I will also need to sort out my insurance. I am on a safety boat course in November and I am going to speak to the instructor about getting an ICC.

Seems to me that we need to formulate a basic plan and then be flexible about exact timings as we wait for a window of weather to allow us to do it over a weekend.

Might even be worth doing it over a long weekend. IE leave UK Friday afternoon and head for Aldernay, Saturday go to Guernsey and maybe give the French coast a blast but not land, staying in Guernsey on the Saturday night. Sunday leave Guernsey and head back to UK.

I'd be up for a run across as well, pretty much anytime suits me so will happily go with the flow.

.....and I'll come out from Alderney to meet you, if you like?
And show you round the island as well?
An R.V. say 10-15mile out?
Just let me know the dates closer to the time.

Just checked out the post i left on here and it looks like its gonna be a good trip next year. I'm free whenever really as i can arrange my work as and when. It will definitely be better to go in a group. May/June sounds great. As soon as possible! Well not quite yet as i haven't even collected my rib yet. It'll be nice if you(Brian) can come out meet us and show us round (the pubs!). Maybe i'll go for a b & b too, the camping didn't seem to go down too well.
