Just looking at stolenboats at the engines which have gone and I have to say that if you have a Yamaha 4stroke fitted to your rib make sure its locked up safe as its on someones hit list.

Since my mint Yamaha 50hp efi was stolen i have come to realise how difficult it is to source a replacement engine with out going down the "new" route.

Certainly a lot of boat crime about recently let's hope it doesn't increase the already expensive insurance. What irritates me is the poor criminal system that slaps their wrists if caught should chop their hands off! Bet crime would soon reduce then

I had regretted not getting a Yamaha but just seeing how many get stolen I happy not having one.

There must be something Yamaha can do to make it harder for stollen engines to be sold on, I expect these engines need cables, gauges and parts at some point, even if they are heading for the continent.

Can't the stainless bolts holding the engine on be welded up? it would at least slow them down.

I wish I had had a piece of stainless angle buried right the way along the top of the transom when the boat was being built, I would like to see the buggers hit that with a chainsaw.

A boat in the yard I use on the Itchen was the victim of these scumbags last week. They got in, cut through all the control cables, unbolted the (6 month old) Mariner, carried it across the yard when the security guard realised what was going on. Fortunately they legged it leaving the outboard behind. Still done several hundred pounds worth of damage. Scum of the earth!
