Springtime in Tobermory...

I came across these old pictures of an early springtime launch of my first RIB... A Zodiac Mk III Hybrid. This was manufactured by Hurricane before Zodiac purchased the company. I will point out that we had to dig through a 5' high frozen snow bank to get to this point. Ah, the good old days of being young, energetic and not too bright!

It's worth it though to be out on the lake early... Usually the harbour starts to break up by mid-April, and as soon as we're certain we'll be able to get back in from the lake, we try to get the boat in. The 590 breaks ice a lot better than the old boat... the extra weight helps a lot!

Stoo, using your boat as a ice breaker... you are hard core! I guess the weather has changed somewhat here lately to prevent you from doing the "ice breaker" routine any time in the near future?

I was wondering about that earlier this season, but the harbour is iced over now with snow banks blocking the ramp. Those pics were taken 12 or 14 years ago... As I said... younger, stoopider, energeticer...

I just discovered my little old boat is up for sale...

http://co2inflatables.com/... #6 under "Used Boats"... The ad doesn't mention it's ice-breaking capabilities!
