Ribex 2007

Here are a few fairly random pictures from a slightly wet and windy RIBEX today. Thanks to Nauti Buoy and qcamel for the RIB taxi service!

and to follow on JK thread here are a few more of Ribex 2007.

as an exhibitor I would say it was a good show. The weather not the best but conditions for showing the performance and handling of a rib perfect.

Ullman Seats on Vampire at RIBEX

Hi Guys,
Hear are a few pictures of my RIBCRAFT 7.8 / Suzi 300 fitted with the Ullman Dynamic seats at RIBEX.

Truely awsome. Make a huge difference, once I had the guts to sit on them at speed in the rough!

Cheers

This boat made me smile: I first saw it and thought to my self what a seaworthy looking little rib. On closer inspection I realised what it was. It's one of the new Bosuns mates designed by Woody Blagg. I had a rather battered one of these my self about 18 months ago which Paul Tilley ended up buying. At the time he said there were plans to bring the boat back into production. The hull mould was still about but all the plans for the tubes had been lost. He wanted mine so he could cut up the tubes and make some new plans based on them. It's great to see that it all went through and that they are being made again

I think this one was about £1300.

Just to say a few words about how nice was to go and see some old friends and make new ones at RIBEX this year.

The weather was dismal and it was the goodhearted Richard that gave me shelter under the tent in the BIBOA stand

It was nice to meet up again with the Banashark crowd as well as meeting Jan and Tim.

The highlight though was meeting up with Andre and I have to say I always thought that Polish people were well mannered, friendly, polite, jentle and kind people, Andre super-past that.

Publicly I would like to thank him for the opportunity he gave me for a great ride under the expert hands of Jan who was driving the boat. I was impressed with the boat, handling (although it was flat but those who were on it know what I mean) and also suburb finish quality. Great boat IMHO and the Veradops are something else.

I hope that I will meet up with all these guys again .... and this time for a beer under the sun.

Photos to come

I really enjoyed the Sunday at Ribex, and describe two highlights.

Around Noon I went out with Andre on the Parker 9m Baltic, Nautiboy. In what I considered rough conditions, I enjoyed a relatively smooth ride and stayed dry! The Verados make no discernible noise. I can see why there has been so much mention of the boat on Ribnet. I also got the chance to pore over Sea Hawk 4, a 7.5m with the 300hp Mercruiser diesel inboard. Parker also had another 9m Rib with twin Diesel Inboards, comprising a fantastic display.

Lee Fairweather at Solent Ribs displayed a prototype 9m Boat; it has a new console similar to the recently improved design on the standard models, with which it shares seating etc. It was fitted with a single 300hp Suzuki outboard engine. In a demo very late Sunday afternoon, the boat gave an impressive ride in choppy water, cruising at over 50 mph both ways. I have limited experience of boats this size. I suggest Solent have a competitive hull, and once again use relatively light weight to achieve good performance.

David Simmons.

Great shots!

Good to read some boat reports too. Good review Simmons ! Solent & Parker doing a great job by the sounds of it. Nautibuoy is still drying off...
