Same happened outside Swansea lock about 2 years ago - there was a great pontoon the charter boats used and if a visiting yacht arrived when the lock was closed they could still come ashore. A high tide wrecked the actual floating bit but Swansea council have refused to replace it as it will cost 40,000. They managed to find 500,000 to put stainless steel rails around the whole marina though!!!
