power boat drivers in the making!

saw these 2 in eastney lake in an 8ftish boat with a merc 4! whatta a toy to have as a kid it had teleflex steering, throttles and everything!!!

When I was a kid, I had a little "Sea Flea" to mess about in. I think it had a 4 HP as well, but the boat wasn't much more than a sheet of curved plywood. I only had a tiller though. All the same, I can't begin to count the number of hours I spent tearing around in that. It was called "Squirt"! My Dad and I painted it bright red with a white racing stripe... Very sporty!

My recollection is that my folks turned me loose with a key-hole lifejacket on and I would be gone for hours, and I can remember running out of gas on a regular basis. (In reality, I think the "lake" wasn't much bigger than a pond, and I suspect I was never out of hollering range...

And so the addiction to boats began...

I had a Prout Puffin. Lovely little thing. If I could find another one I'd errrrm...not fit in it very well anymore

It planed well with a Seagull 40+ on it
