The current estimate is 50% of foreign trucks coming in are below the legal minimum safety standards for the UK because of poor maintainance but there aren't enough trafpol to enforce it.

I could tell stories of foreign drivers and haulage firms that'd make your toes curl. I suspect Osprey Viper could too.

We have the same/similar problem in the southern USA. Driving North from Mexico to Arizona There is a military check point about 30 miles S. of the border. Yes, they are carrying machine guns. Fortunately there is a separate lane for private cars. Last tripwe made, the truck line was 3 miles long to get though the check point. It takes an ave. of 4-8 hours to get thru. for the trucks then you wait another 2 hours to get across the Mexico/US border. Great fun but worth it to boat on the Sea of Cortez.

Do the Germans still have that quaint rule that lorries don't use the roads at weekends ? Always thought the England should have that sort of rule.

Who took the original photo splashed down the side of the truck and trailer? just think of the royalities

Pete
