Hi JIZM

Yep sought of, i got to stage where it was sea worthy and of course every nice day i had off after that i spent on the water and not on refurb.

I need to restick the hypalon strips holding hull to tubes, some are peeling off!!! i have not fitted the windscreen yet. I then need to put another coat of paint inside and out.

Oh yeh and rewire it, its suprising how taking your rib out in all weathers can high light areas where i might of rushed it!!! i intend to make it bullit proof.

Altogeather engine great, not missed a beat have had 40 knots out of her now without any chine walk (depends on 1/2 tank fuel plus though) been out in some rooth stuff no probs.

And had her totally vertical 90deg below tower bridge (opps) while showing off to the jap tourists. Scared the s**t out of me but landed fine, all be it i was holding on to the tube at that point not the wheel. could of been an expensive mistake, oh and got pulled over by the police under the anti terroism act, they thought i was with green peace who were moored up down there (that was a great day i had)

But will put final pics on net as inspiration to others, hopefully soon

Ian,

All I can say is wow.
Wish I had the time to transform mine like that. Looks like a fantastic job to me. Congratulations.

Just out of interest, and to help put me off doing anything similar, do you have any idea of what the transformation cost (excludoing engine/trailer etc, boat only) and how many hours work you put in?

Cheers

Neil

hi neil

paid £1000 for hull on ebay, spent best part of 5-6 days sanding and painting. new tubes were bought for £800 he had 3 sets of them, big cost was consoles paid £170 ebay for main console, paid another £700 for seats and stainless backs & double rear jockey. 60ltr Alloy fuel tank was made for £60 & Alloy aframe was about £80 made to my spec. I never kept cost of sandpaper, wiring, lights, paint was about £120 glue £90.

I guess £3000 all in plus electronics, outboard, trailer..oh and about 20 days on and off hard slog.

Thanks Ian,
That adds up to what I'd expect. But you've got a rib you know inside out, to the spec you wanted that looks great.

I'm actually quite surprised it's only about 20 days work.

Well done again and maybe see you on the water some time.

Neil

Boat

Hi there. Your searider looks the nuts. I like it mucho!!

I have bought a similar boat (1996 SR5.4m Com Rescue) and am doing it all up the way I want.

I don't collect the boat for 2 more weeks, but would like to get an a frame manufactured whilst I wait.

Could you tell me what width your frame / transom is and also what the height of the apex of the frame is?

Thanks

Alan
