Merlin, the story continues

Hi all

We had booked the 3-8th of April off for getting out and about. I had been watching the weather closely and it seems we picked a nice week to go boating. As usual we were stopping in the Langstone hotel.

So on Sunday with the wind gusting to about 40 knots we launched the boat, we had picked high tide and it was a big high tide, well over springs due to the time of year. The wind was blowing me nicely onto the jetty. I also noticed that the water that had come over the back was not being cleared by the bilge pump, after close investigation I found a wire had corroded, so a quick repair and it was up and running…. Then off to the Ship for our tea

Monday, blowing about a F5, we made our way to the Hamble to have a look around, then back to Northney, the only thing was to keep warm. Also by the time I arrive back at the Chichester bar I had a SW onshore wind against tide, which was a little tricky in a place or too. But all was well and tea at the Ship

Tuesday morning a great day, off to have a look around the south of the Island. Guess what tea at the ship…..

Wednesday, a great day but as we found it quite cold, so instead of making our way to Cowes we kept to the east, calling in at Langston, Portmouth and nearly Bembridge, I say nearly because I was smack on 1.5 hrs past LW and there was just not enough water at the time (as the book says).

So finally something has gone wrong on Merlin, but it was fixed quickly. The Evinrude continues to run well and the boat is great.

Pictures, hope they come out in the correct order
1) Hamble and the missus
2) Hamble and me
3 and 4 Solent sailing boat
5) Langstone
6) Looking at the Solent from the east
7) Merlin
8) Bosham

I also met “out and about”
