12 NOK per litre for Gasoline = 1.23
11 NOK per litre for diesel = 1.13

Boat owners pay around 0.82 for diesel.

But,

The only way to correctly calculate the cost of fuel is to look at the price in relation to the average salary. Hence the reason why our fuel is among the cheapest in the world.

mmm... me thinks you've been listening to government propoganda! That logic applies to all costs. However the point was, here in Britain, we are very good at criticising our country and saying how much better other places are - bizzarely those people all seem to still live in Britain!

The point was don't just look at the positives you've got to get the whole picture (otherwise you'd have to deal with 60 million brits all turning up). You are quite right that your average salaries are higher - although its worth remembering that more than half the population are on less than average salaries.

I'm not knocking Norway - rather the grass is always greener brigade.

You're forgetting their setup, Polwart. They don't have the same range of salaries that we do, e.g. a doctor will not be paid ten or twenty times more than a "sanitary services technician".
