Well wow. Just wow. I take it someone took the blue lights off it before the sale? I think we deserve more than one measly [sideways] photo....

Best of luck with her, BTW

Well you've only got one cos I've only taken one! Ta for turning the pic.

Yep, ex police, from Liverpool I believe. It's gonna get a rewire before launch - why can't folk do wiring well? Even the professionals are rubbish at it. I'll keep you posted if anything significant turns up.

Ta for the thumbs up both of you!

Oh, kinell, you found Garfie's other tractor cab. Good catch, I'll be right on it...

Ta, Pikey. I did have a wee warning from our leader that it might be a bit hard riding, I'll report back. It is 8mtrs long though to fingers crossed on that one.

Dunno about the 8m, but the 5dash5 was a tad "damp"

Yes, I'm not sure about this one. It has a chine flat high up on the hull, a little distance below the tubes which will send water outwards and the tubes also have a fair overhang of the hull which should also send water outwards and downwards so I'm hopeful it'll be OK. The hull is certainly very different in the fore sections compared to the Humber so it'll have very different characteristics. All remains to be seen.
The boat is just waiting for me to get into it, other priorities and the poor weather have prevented me working on it but there's plenty of time yet.

It's well built with no structural concerns and everything is duplicated, twin thanks, filters batteries etc. The wiring all works but it's a rat's nest inside the consol with some obvious points of possible failure so it's not going on the water until I feel totally secure about that.

Now you can only use one at a time, so when do you expect to prefer this over the Humber?

Ah...good question. I'm not sure that will ever be the case, they're completely different animals. Plainly a couple of big outboards pushing an open boat is going to be faster and more lively, maybe more fun when the weather's good but it's hard to beat sitting on a comfy suspension seat in a nice sheltered cabin with the heater on and travelling in your shirt sleeves when the rain outside is chucking it down. Very civil and cosy.

I expect the hulls to perform very differently. Standing in the bow of the Humber the bow tube is chest height and there's a good deal of security within that area, the Delta's tubes are not much more than knee height. This is partly because of the line of the deck within the hull but mainly because the Humber has a deep forefoot so allowing the deck to be lower. Both have approximately the same bow height.

The Delta has been in use with the police force for a good number of years and it's still completely sound and it's obviously served them well so I've high hopes for it. But I'm not sure how long I'll keep it, it's more for a bit of fun than serious cruising use - we'll see.
