Hi Charles, yes it is Rob...

I am happy to give the import a go as I have done this already with my vehicle(although not from SA) and am more than happy to take advantage of the cost savings to be had. I also have family in SA who can help at that end.
What sort of saving did you make with your Yamaha Engines?
I notice from your pics that the Hysucat has bench seating - can this be changed or did you find this adequate?
I would be interested in any contact details that you can provide to help me out.

Cheers

Rob

Rob this is my third boat ,only my second rib, apart from its size the Hysucat posseses additional features which make it a well designed boat. The boat comes with good stowage areas, has an excellent floor rail system for fixing seats, gear etc to the boat, very important,it is different from a mono hull, the biggest single difference I notice is that it doesnt skite left to right while under power. The manouvering of the boat takes a little getting used too, more so at low speeds I find.My self and Tim plan to fit jockey seating, and the bench will move foreward to house fuel tanks. We took these pics in relative calm ,however when the opportunity arises I plan to take some pics of it in really rough stuff. The boat is happiest in a bit of a chop, try and get one with dark upholstery easier to keep, but most of all try to have recommended engines ie pair of 50hp four strokes for correct weight at the stern .Excellent ribs , and ours attracts a lot of attention in the marina as we still think of ribs as monohulls gavin

Thanks for the info Gavin, I think I will definately be looking to purchase one of these for next season. Did you buy yours from Crayford or did you import directly from SA?

Rob the story behind this rib is better known by Tim.In wasnt with him at the time but it did come from Lymington I think from Crayfords,It was for sale for as a rib which had been used as a tender and to push out flat sterned yachts for races called Twelve metres.I would have no problem buying an import hysucat as long as the motors are sourced locally, that is the main worry

The hysucat has a well travelled history, as far as I know is was imported into Austriala, It was then bought buy the last owner and fitted the 75 fichts and used a a tender to 2 late 80's America cup boats, which were chartered there, When then the Americas cup classic race was on in the south coast in 2000, the two twelve meters were brought up on the deck of a ship along wit the hysucat, on the deck of a 12m, so thats when I saw it, and the rest is on going history................

I did get your mesage, thanks for the info, I will contact Malan soon to discuss my requirements.
Once again thanks to everyone who has chipped in with some advise on the Hysucat, it certainly looks like the boat for me.
