Gosh Richard you must have been all over the rib with your camera cheers

before the rib left the UK it was checked over by the local authorised Mercury service dealer based in Littlehampton so I am very curious what the cause was of this breakdown also very interested how they got rescued and how long it took

Just checked the web page and copied the latest

25.05

Had 6-metre waves today. That probably contributed to the incident of lost steering, too.

At the first moment it seemed impossible to do anything to it. But then we tied down the motors and playing with throttle drove the rib to the nearest fishing harbour with Coast Guard standing by. In Veere 19:30.

Will try to effect repairs tomorrow and continue to finish.

My brother Philip spoke to Omar this morning who told him that the hydraulic hose from helm pump to cylinder burst/split so they lashed the engines in a central fixed position and using only the remote control they were able to steer the rib. They still had about 100 miles home so I guess they should have arrived by now.

Charles the GPS is the Raymarine Raychart 435i which has quite a large screen ie 9cm x 12 cm and it got them to Estonia from Littlehampton

The passage has been completed. Once the hose was replaced the guys arrived yesterday to Tallin. Pls keep checking the Estonian web site for further pictures. I have asked Omar to join the forum and post his account of the trip. Best to have first hand information
