ACB's

Drove past the 'Chunky Workboat "dealers and this time he was open.
"Aluminum Chambered Boats" ,complete with Tubes by WING.
Checked out the boats and the owner gave me an advertising package ,complete with DVD showing the boat running some rapids.
Pretty impressive
Also interesting to see in the video links, the turning capabilities against a "Protector" RIB
http://www.acbboats.com/videos.asp

Not the type of boat I need, but didn't seem bad for boat/trailer/twins for around $130,000
Also photo of "Stars and Stripes" from the weekend and the obilgatory sealion shot. (handfeeding left over bait )
cheers Dal

Huh?

I thought the ACB's had tubes of welded aluminum. At least, that's what they show on their website. The one that runs occasionally up here in Monterey is all aluminum as well. Have they started building true RIB's?

By the way, feeding of sealions is a violation of MMPA, and could net you a hefty fine (up to $25K, I believe.)

Jky,
yes, the ones i saw had WING tubes. The owner said the Navy requested them to meet their specs. for fendering ,in the type of use the boat would be subjected to.
The ones on the DVD shooting the rapids, indeed had the Aluminum "tubes".
Fun video and will see if I can edit a section and post.
As for the Sealions, its a shame people feed them from the left over bait tanks. It just attracts them when you are fishing and it's sometimes impossible to get your live bait past them.
After saying that, they are so interesting up close, that it's tough not to succumb to their playfulness
cheers Dal
