A humorous look at Coast Guard College...

Rick Mercer is a Canadian Comedian/Satirist who frequently take shots at our Federal Government... Unless he wants to borrow their toys!

Here is a clip of his visit to the CCG College in Nova Scotia, from a recent broadcast.

It looks like he enjoys driving a RIB as we do...

Ha, that was cool. They pushed him overboard at a fair old speed! Bet he felt that.

Nice to see that the Coastguard guys have a sense of humour and don't take themselves too seriously. Can't think of a job I'd like to do more if I had my career to start over.

Our Coasties aren't like their US counterparts, in that they aren't "militarized". I'm not sure how they compare to the UK guys... I have a few friends that serve, that are from Tobermory...

Etecs seem to be the engine of choice... I think they like the "zip"...

I liked that, a few useful tecniques demonstrated like, ensuring all those onboard know when your powering up and powering down, saftey around pyro, gloves worn etc. Also liked the technique for bring boat alongside other boat and keeping it there and the way a line was used to roll the person back into the boat when in the water.

The RNLI should do a similar video.

Regards
Mark
