The blue and white race boat bladerunner does 90mph, but apparently the Ice Marine production boats (2x 300 promax) struggle to top 75mph. Very Tricky has one, he can confirm this.

indeed, was using the sport as an example - hence the 2 x 300's.

footnote to this and sone for Cookee... do the BR's share some heritage with the bananashark? Bow section is very similar looking. I am not insinuating a splash in any form before this thread disintegrates into a leewaesque ramble!

The BR was designed by Lorne Campbell, I believe the Bananashark is a distant relation of it.....Im sure Cookee will fill us in.

Makes sense, nice boats the both of them. The bow section is really unique.

Back on topic.

This was discussed a while ago - and this is what I / we said about CE marking and horsepower and handling tests:

Balistic 7.8

The Blue Ice Marine Blade Runner does 99mph with the race props on but only about 80mph with Bravo one props and the charter gear on board.

It has 2.5 race engines (280hp?) and uses a lot of carbon fibre in its construction. When in race trim it also has a lid over the crew compartment giving very good aerodynamics.

15mph was gained by moving the 12kg anchor from the bow to the stern shortly after it was coded. Small things can make a big difference !

Only drove it once - and then up to only 60mph as it was cowes week and a bit "busy". Didn't get another chance as an over exuberent skipper rolled it with guests on board. No insurers were then interested in continuing cover

Ah yes - but in a Top Gear stylie - if I fitted an EJ 200 to a Hummer (Mk I or II) I reckon it would beat Schumaker in his Ferrari to the end of the start straight... ...although it would need an ejector seat for use before the first corner, as the chances of getting round it would be, well, about zero......

Yes the Ice Marine boats were designed before the BananaShark - the bow certainly does have similarities - it's what makes our boat so good in rough weather! By the way the race boat recently went 75.6mph on the GPS in Southampton water ............. with just 200hp (an XS200) on the back - the thing was it was still accelerating but I had to back off for the car ferry wake!
