I have spoken to echopilot, and they say the active part of the transducer is on the sloping face. They say do fit them to fast boats, but it would seem to be trial and error as to how well it works...

foreward looking sonar
Hello, not having much boating experience myself, I would like to hear any opinions about hanging one of these jobbies off the back of a fast boat. Its a transducer for a foreward looking sonar unit....
