Don't know what book you are refering to but the official Mercury/MerCruiser operation, maintenance & warranty manual on page 50 says rated RPM at WOT 4000-4400RPM and I cannot find any...

reving at 4500-4600 is above the manufactures advice and for sure not doing the engine any good for long periods of time. I also tried the 23" prop but s/s and was over reving so went back...

I go along with David 32/33 knots is the very max...
I go along with David 32/33 knots is the very max speed and hv tried the s/steel 23" prop (Laser of course) and the s/steel 21" . Kept the 21" cos has better acceleration :)
