No chafing noticed (use lots of fixing places) and as for UV rays, it's a black tarp and it is very dark under it so if the little UV beggers get through they will have to go round and get in...

I use a large rectangular tarp and bungee straps...

I use a large rectangular tarp and bungee straps to cover mine and I tow with it on without any problems. The tarp covers the bow completely so road muck is kept to a minimum.
