Diving weights dropped on deck have a similar effect. Bilge cover is HIGH on the list of improvements on my this boat for just that reason

As a workaround when my Sahara broke I just ran a piece of 1 inch webbing under the base, screwed it back down and used snap connectors to fasten the webbing over the top of the pump. It looked quite...
