The thing about having an aux is that more or less regardless of what the wind or sea state is, you are better off having one than not having one. Yes you might have 5kt of tide yes there may be 30kt...

Spot on I have had both my aux engines "fail" (not a breakdown - just dirty fuel - but if it doesn't work it doesn't work...) both times were thankfully on routine runs just to make sure the engine...

Aux for me - only ever used it once less than...
Aux for me - only ever used it once less than 50yds from the pontoon when the main engine cut out and wouldn't restart, but it probably stopped my boat either being on a rocky beach or into a jagged...
