Its running a bit below peak revs at 5100 (was 5500 with the 17" prop)

There may be a drawback to that though - the life expectancy of the highly tuned 444 engine was only 2 hours running time which could prove a tad expensive on a long term basis :)

There was something about diesel outboards on here a while back, but they were only about 20 or 30hp I think.

I suppose weight is the killer, same reason you don't get many diesel aeroplanes...

All time best on GPS now 36.1kt normally tops out...

All time best on GPS now 36.1kt normally tops out at about 35.5 ... however I have a prop with bigger teeth (and less battle scars!) which hopefully is going on this weekend so I might see a few more...
