I've since learned that the VNF log every boat that comes through each lock and they use this info to calculate your speed and fine people...

I think the port motor's had a bit of a lumpy idle for ages, doesn't seem to affect anything else though.

I was quite interested as to why the port motor had no gearbox in the first bit :eh:

Only took 3months to do a 2 day job and they're charging double what my "worst case scenario figure" was that I had in mind but I can hardly argue about it...

Some good news today, apparently the french have relented and agreed to fit my powerhead. It's due to arrive UK on 31st tuesday, 2-5 days to France so it could be done in a couple of weeks fingers...
