As I said the Mazda 6 turbo 4wd is very impressive - doubt they do low range but a GOOD auto box should help - or all Jap cars really crap? All this talk of changing clutches etc - I have never had...

I have only driven an Imprezza a few times - towing was the last thing on my mind!!! I would also have thought the lack of low down torque is a big problem - 4wd turbos are known for being difficult...
