Ah, I'd swapped that out as well. On the Mariner 30 that this engine replaced I had a pump that had a set of gaskets / diaphragm last year.

Guilty as charged w.r.t the connectors. :willk:

The solenoid pulls it as closed as it is possible to do by hand with the solenoid disconnected. It seems to be as closed as it is possible to go, i.e., no gaps at the sides.

When I prime it I can hear fuel going into the carb - up to the point that the bulb goes hard (the float has closed off the fuel to the bowl).
