It's a 1996 Mariner 40hp, electric start, automixing oil do dar, power tilt and trim, longshaft etc etc. It's in very good condition, serviced regularly.....

I wouldn't buy a new one; I'd therefor be looking at about £1800 for a half decent 60hp Mariner 2-stroke. I'd probably get about £1000 for my exisiting one. Mmm. Time for some contemplation......

Yer it is a dilemma. I would love the extra speed, but then I have to weigh up the cost issues; I currently don't have a spare £3k for a 60.....Also with petrol getting even more expensive it might...

I have just heard back from Southern Pacific who say I can safely put a 60hp engine on my boat (currently fitted with a 40).

How much extra speed can I hope to achive with the extra 20hp? Is it...
