I've used Ocean Safety (Saxon Wharf, Southampton) to service my jackets for the past few years and they are efficient and cheap (around £10 per jacket).

Its worth checking them on a regular basis...

We use the foam in the work boats and it does make a difference after a day on the water. I'm not sure users would notice it for general leisure use I.e. I haven't been motivated to put it on my rib.

Battery life is good, mine goes all day (7-8 hours)...
