Your money is best spent with a better antenna. Look at the specs and the price range. Also get the antenna as high as possible.

There are also antennas that can do a couple of things at once....

I think my Stand Horizon allowed you to screw it up twice before it locked you out of entering the mmsi again. Then you have to pull the unit and take send it to the manufacturer.
