Don't listen to the scare mongering Windsurfer! .... I had a Fletcher Arrowflyte + 60hp for a few years it was awesome fun, my kids learnt to Wakeboard, kneeboard, mono ski etc with it (in the sea!)...

I had Stingray starfire hydrofoil for that very reason (towing) and yes it worked ie slower planning speeds not so much bowlift etc ... but didn't notice any fuel savings and lost a knot or so top...
