Was ambling along Calshot on Saturday watching the kite surfers, when a small RIB wandered past. I was just thinking I'd give the spit a bit more clearance than that when he came to an abrupt stop.

Kimmeridge is OK but watch out for rocks at low water. Gets very busy with dive clubs in the summer. Lots of parking though.

Definitely stick to the channel.

Standard Horizon are perfectly good and well proven. And towards the cheaper end.

Had mine for a few years and it works well with the usual limitations of hand held as against fixed.

I believe the skipper was one of those thrown over so the remaining crew didn't feel competent to effect a rescue so did the best thing in the circumstances and ran for the harbour to get assistance.
