RIB wanted, max. 3200mm (10ft 6in), preferably 3100mm (10ft 2in)

Hi, I'm new here.
I need a new tender for our motor yacht (search Nordhavn N40 Coracle on Youtube if you want to see the mothership).
We were all set to buy a BRIG Falcon 300 but it fell through.
Happy to buy a used RIB.
Specs:-
  • Design
  • Must be consol or jockey seat with steering wheel
  • Must have lockable stowage for lifejackets and other small items
  • Tubes must be Hypalon or similar, not PVC
  • Capacity - minimum 3 adults
  • Dimensions
  • Tube length - maximum 3200mm (10ft 6in), preferably 3100mm (10ft 2in)
  • Overall length - maximum 3350mm (11ft 0in) including outboard stored either tilted or vertical if we make higher chocks
  • Beam - maximum 1700mm (about 5 ft 7 in)
  • Engine
  • To save space and weight we want the smallest engine that will get the tender on the plane with 2 on board because most of the time we use our tender in waters where there is a maximum speed limit, it's quite rare for us to want to go fast
  • Must be 4 stroke with electric start
  • Lifting
  • Must have lifting eyes for crane
  • Maximum weight with engine & fuel 270kg

When we have our new tender I will be selling our 2005 Suzemar31 with Mariner 9.9hp 2 stroke, tiller steering.

Thanks, Michael

Welcome, can’t help with your search unfortunately, but I’m very envious of your mothership. Lucky man.

No special procedure for clicking through links on the forum required. They work ok at my end. Try copy & pasting them into a browser.

OK, thanks, I got the links to work. Can't see a consol or jockey seat option though. No point in looking at new RIBs without a steering wheel because we already have a very good tiller steering tender and it's the wheel we most want. We are sometimes on the RIB for hours, we have been the full length of the Blyth, Dart, Fal, and Helford rivers, most of the way up the Tamar until the tree blockages stopped us, miles and miles in Poole Harbour, and so on. My bum gets sore sitting on the tube, and my neck gets stiff twisting round to see where we are going! I want a seat and a steering wheel!

Anyone know anything about Excel?

If your current tender is a rib, have you considered fitting a jockey console yourself / getting a dealer or boatyard to fit a console for you? If you like the current boat, this is a viable option with a new engine on remotes to go with it. Alternatively if you see a rib you like without a console, I'm sure most dealers would fit a console to it at a cost.

Yes I considered fitting a jockey seat or console to the existing boat and was looking into it seriously. But at the moment there don't seem to be any engines available and without the 4 stroke engine I'm not interested. And it turns out it's a lot more work than appears at first sight, and I've seen boats disappear for work to be done and take months to re-appear. I took our big boat into a yard for a job supposed to take a couple of months. 7 months and a hell of a lot of extra money later we finally got away from the yard. Never again. We want to spend our time boating this summer. I'll look at this again in the winter if we can't buy anything now.

In the PDF for the Alu Rib boats, there are console options for the 320 alu-rib, either 1 or 2 person albeit not jockey seats.

Thanks again for all the help.
Things have moved on.
I have been offered two Brig Falcon 300 HTs today and have agreed to buy one of them.

Our Suzemar 31 with Mariner 9.9hp 2 stroke, with trailer, now for sale, Plymouth. Can be seen intermittently in my one and only video,

Glad you got something sorted.

The Nordhvan N40 is a very interesting boat, huge saloon given it's full beam. I watched this owner's video and in-depth walk-around.

Back to your tender search - still worth looking at Zodiac Yachtline 360 Deluxe until you sign on the dotted line for the Brig 300.

Console and seating with storage, 3 lifting points, 35 litre integral fuel tank, removable Neoprene/Hypalon tubes only available in white, LED courtesy lights, integral NAV lights, automatic bilge pump. The boat alone is 200kg and takes a maximum 40hp engine, although it would probably plane with 20hp, so add another 50kg.

https://www.zodiac-nautic.com/en/sho.../yachtline-en/

Might be 8" longer than you want with outboard in vertical position, but a lot of boat for the money.
