I'm wondering if this tear can be reliably repaired if need be to get me to winter? I'm guessing not and would rather replace the tubes but I can't find a replacement for a 2005 Zodiac SRMN-500 on the internet (open to suggestions. I'm in NJ, USA). I've emailed Defender and Zodiac. Waiting for a response. This is a boat for sale so I don't have other pics and I'm just guessing where the tear is on the one pic.
Disregard. I just got a reply and apparently Zodiac and Zodiac Milpro are 2 different companies. $15k for new tubes and they're glued on which I don't want. 6 month lead time. Not an option
It looks repairable, just search on here and there's guides how to do it. First thing is to find out what material is used, hypalon or pvc, search that first.
Snall tip.....once it's repaired don't let darth vader helm it again
Looks black on the inside which indicates hypalon aka Orca. NRS has the supplies needed. Should be fully repairable. A good two part glue like Stabond, remove any outer fittings and rub rails where the patch will go, clean, prep, and put an inside and outside patch. The whole boat is already glued together so...a little more gluing and patching won't make a difference.
That’s repairable. If you’re not generally handy, then search out a professional to do it. Will require meticulous preparation, degrease, lightly sand, correct two part glue (assuming hypalon) and patch inside and patch outside. Temperature and humidity are critical too, so something else to consider.
I've repaired worse than that. It won't be too complicated to repair, but that rubbing strake is welded on and will take a bit of work to get it away cleanly where you need to place the external patch. The bulk of your work will be on the internal patch. You can pop out the inflation valve to work it from that side too.
