I’m sure a decent tractor could have “re-positioned” the offending vehicle, cough cough.

Looking at the trailer no wonder the boat needed assistance if it was to the same standard.

They've got a JCB down there that they use to keep the slipway clear of shingle so they could have used that to moved the car / trailer but what I can't believe is the stupidity of the plonker that chose to park there in the first place.

Unbelievably stupid! The only consequence was they spoke to him!

You can get £60 plus ticket for parking on a high street yet if you block a life boat and potentially cause someones death you get 'spoken to'.

To maybe put another side to this....

The obvious Lifefeboat station is by the old jetty.

The yellow markings do look look like parking bays - they are not cross hatched -although the car / trailer is still parked like a plonker

The shed doesn't look like the normal home for a lifeboat, more a maintenance store / garage.

This could be a genuine mistake by someone not familiar with the the area - not pure stupidity arrogance

I'm sure if there was an urgent need the vehicle could / "would" have been moved.

i have to smile at the karma though.....although I bet it wouldn't have made the press if the car owner hadn't got in to trouble on his way back...... and remember he was was returning in response to the call from the RNLI.

Or am I being too charitable?

Lakeland ... Are you sure it wasn't you? You are being far too generous.

OK. I see what you mean about the bays. But it's not like he parked in a bay. He parked across three.

There is a roller shutter door. Even if that was a workshop for a business who parks at the door?

I can't read the signs next to the door... I assume it says 'emergency access required 24hours'. One look up at who 'owns' it and you get that 24 hours is genuinely 24 hours.

£5k fine for obstruction of emergency service. Does require that there is an emergency.

I know, Christmas spirit has kicked in early ..pass me another dram of Ardberg

I agree the parking in front of that garage door is silly, but from the photo I can't see how close the car actually is to the door - bit it's not right against it and the paint markings do not make it clear it's a no parking area, or signs
how thebuilding houses the lifeboat.

To be fair I'd expect a lifeboat to be housed in the lifeboat station not a shed away from it if I didn't know the area. I'd also expect a keep clear /no parking area to be clearly marked which this is not.

Totally agree it's poor parking.

We are at pains not to judge certain incidents e.g. injuries from not wearing a kill cord, hitting navigation marks at speed etc , but seem very judgmental on this which might be a genuine mistake, and one in which no one was hurt.

The boater had obviously realised their error and was returning when they got into "difficulties" whatever tehy were...may be taking risks to get back quickly? ...Far too much Christmas tolerance

LT it's obvious you've had more than a dram or two of Ardbeg, maybe nearer the full bottle far too charitable.

LOL - think you might be right

If 0.01% of the population are knob's, that's still a lot of Muppets in the world, your bound to meet a few in your lifetime

Hopefully me too. Ardbeg, Aberlour Lagavulin and Laphroaig (let's not start a debate!) all gone. There is the correct shaped present under the tree without a name tag. One can but hope
Maybe even, you never know, a bottle of Crested 10.
